Here at Bread and Butterflies we love art. Whether it be our own, our guest sellers or the lovely folk of Lady Bay. We have a lot to celebrate and I am going to take this opportunity to do just that! On Saturday and Sunday we celebrate a great community event which is The Lady Bay Arts Festival. This year we have one artist at the tearoom; Lunar Moth Jewellery. Hope you can all come in during the weekend to check out her stunning pieces. But as well as our weekend guest artist, as many of you know, we have lots of artists who show their wears at the tearoom. Our latest addition is Re: Done; all of her pieces will be available to buy next weekend. Our very own Linsey will also be displaying her own art, so come and take a look at what she has done with her fine arts degree! After this weekend is finished we will still have the wonderful community based Lady Bay Amateur Arts club to look forward to! The next session will run on Tuesday 6th June and the event is already listed on our Facebook page for you to join and book your place. We are going to start working with colour and paint and Linsey has been busy preparing her lesson! All through the year you have the opportunity to use our skills to find that perfect gift. Our most popular item is the cushion. We are able to draw from a photo, and create that very personal gift for friends and family.
One of our happy customers has added our beautiful tearoom to Trip Advisor!
We absolutely love our most recent addition to our crafty family. Re: Done is the beautiful upcycling of Emma Nicol. She takes old frames, furniture and nik naks and creates beautiful works of art that are practical and useful.
She has already developed a very good reputation for herself in the market and often does events in Nottingham where you can see her work; follow her on Facebook to see where she'll be next! Here's what some of her customers think of her work:
Please browse her pieces when you're next at the tearoom, you'll find them all hanging in the window but just ask Lisa or Linsey and we will be happy to take them down so you can have a closer look! Add a bit of vintage charm to your home with one of Emma's designs!
What a great evening! We had a super turn out and lots of positive feedback from those who attended. We covered the rules of drawing portraits, ensuring the head is divided properly to get proper placement of features, and the work that our amateurs produced was extremely impressive; there are a lot of very talented artists in Lady Bay! The group have received homework to complete before next month's session which will run on the first Tuesday in May. Three of the attendees signed up for the next 5 sessions to learn more about tone, other media and sculpture. We're hoping many more of them will want to come along to the other sessions, but do pop in if you'd like to sign up! Places are limited so get in quick if you'd like to produce some fantastic art! Thanks so much to the community of Lady Bay for their enthusiasm for our new arts club that will have their first meeting on Tuesday 4th April! We have 20 people signed up to attend, which is great. We really hope you all enjoy the session and want to sign up for 5 more, to take your learning further. To give you some inspiration each session Linsey will show you some great examples, but you can also follow us on Pinterest! You can click on the Pinterest icon on this website, top right hand corner, which will take you to our page. Linsey and Lisa are very excited to introduce Lady Bay Amateur Arts, a group that will meet every month to learn a number of artistic skills.
